Education is about opportunity.

Providing a child the opportunity to learn is the obligation of each parent, school and the community.  The thirteen years of San Marino public school education is not the beginning, and is definitely not the end, of this process.  We want our children to finish high school equipped with  broad and advanced knowledge, with a strong work ethic and competitiveness.  More importantly, we want the desire to pursue knowledge to continue, we want the joy after hard work or triumph to replay, we want the understanding, the appreciation and the love of people, animals, plants and the environment to always be there.

Financially, the School Board as a whole influences all residents in the City whether or not they have a child attending SMUSD.  They have approximately $28 million Tax money in their hand.  It is crucial for you and me to have a voice in the school board body to use the money wisely and respectfully.  It is justifiably important for you to seek a candidate who does not burden the entire community with insensitive spending and parcel taxes and bonds.

With this in mind, I enter the race for School Board passionately.  I welcome and will be humbled by your valuable words about these issues.

We need to teach our students well.

I ran for San Marino School Board to bring our District to the next level of achievement, while maintaining the taxpayer’s trust by staying within the budget.

I ran for School Board, over objections and even despite requests that I drop out, because I believe in the democratic process and the importance of open discussion of the issues.

Very few people voted on November 3rd, but the entire community, I hope now better informed, will be watching.  So will I.  My passion for and commitment to education is undeterred.  Until next time, have fun, take care and God bless you.
